Lessons and Membership

Wet Pants is proud to offer sailing lessons to members for a range of ages and abilities:

Seaman

Classes for beginners run 8-10am every Monday/Wednesday, Tuesday/Thursday, or four days a week.

Learn parts of the boat, parts of the sail, determining wind direction, points of sail, capsize recovery, tacking, gybing, docking, instructor-free sailing.


Crew classes

For intermediate students run 10-12am very Monday/Wednesday, Tuesday/Thursday, or four days a week.

Reintroduce past season’s concepts. Review sail trim and steering with both tiller and sails. Learn techniques to complete tacks faster and control S-shaped gybes. Instructors will be removed from boats. Students will successfully sail box course and port triangle. Introduce dinghy racing; students will attempt first race.

Cruising Skipper

Classes run Monday/Wednesday, 1-4pm.

Sailing upwind-tacking, feathering, roll tacking and back-winding jib. Advanced techniques in sailing downwind. Controlled s-shaped gybes and sailing wing-on-wing. Introduction to sailing with spinnaker, continued instruction with spinnaker. Students will sail port triangle and practice starting techniques. Students are expected to attend all Jr. Regattas. It is strongly recommended they own their own boat. (420, Optimist, or Sunfish)


Racing Skipper

Classes run Monday-Thursday, 1-4pm, with regattas on Fridays.

Run Mondays and Wednesdays, 6-8pm.
